Why do volunteers have to fundraise?

How do volunteers help?

What happens on the project?

Volunteer costs? None!

RE:13 is a social enterprise using the concepts of recycling and enterprise to support the start-up aspirations of men and women in communities in the "developing world". We started our overseas partnership working in Zimbabwe with F.A.C.T. delivering the programme in different regions across the country. We deliver business skills sessions, provide start-up resources and support individuals to start and run sustainable micro and small enterprises.

RE: 13 is built on the principles of recycle, refresh, renew! We gather donations of fabric offcuts, unused garments and textiles and provide the resources and training for our participants to re-purpose them into men's and women's fashions, accessories and home decor items. The enterprise training and the sales of products created contribute to the economic sustainability of individuals, their families and ultimately their communities. In a country where families pay for schooling and medical care directly, earning money to pay for essentials provides the safety net that many in the UK take for granted.

Volunteers contribute their time, energy and passion to support the development of the businesses on the project. You may have business or creative skills too, but the most important thing is your committment to volunteering,  being prepared to share what you know and learn from others. You'll support the project full-time for at least a month, bringing your enthusiasm and ideas, working in a team on various tasks, which could include designing and making products, working out costings, setting up social media pages, photography, film making and lots more! As well as sharing your skills, you'll be immersed in a new culture and will learn lots about other people and yourself!

The bulk of the funding for the project comes from RE:13.  Your fundraising contributes part of the total costs of your participantion in the programme. Your contribution ensures that we can continue recruiting volunteers to participate on projects into the future.  The more volunteers we work with, the more people and communities we can reach, and the greater impact we'll have for people in the UK and our host communities. Fundraising also helps to raise awareness about our project and your work with it. It's a great way for others to support you and become invested in what will be your very exciting journey.

Nothing! All project costs are covered by RE:13 including:

• Flights, in-country transfers and internal travel

• Meals, accommodation, insurance, vaccinations

• Orientation, training and programme materials

• Weekly stipend / allowance
